UC Davis Health

Hammel Abrahamson & Green's San Francisco office offers 11,000 square feet of functional and beautiful workspace. Occupying an entire floor of a 100 year old building, original architectural elements such as coffered plaster ceilings and oak hardwood floors were incorporated into the design and act as elegant foils to the clean modern lines, high contrast paint, and variety of welcoming texture.

UC Davis Health Masterplan

Location: Sacramento, CA

Scope: 16 buildings

Position: Interior Designer

Focus: facilitate the strategic move of 6,000 employees across UC Davis Health’s Campus

UC Davis Health approached my team with the massive undertaking of researching, planning, and executing the reorganization of 6,000 employees across their campus. Engaging a large cross-disciplinary team allowed us to not only develop their entire program, but also to test fit all their existing spaces, explore the potential for new construction, and execute change management strategies in support of that ongoing work.

Teams were placed into neighborhoods that offered a set ratio of accommodations. Within the building itself I used urban planning principles to strategically place and layout these neighborhoods with appropriate proximity to destinations and landmarks.

The largest challenge posed by the client was to test our neighborhood strategy in all of their existing buildings. While some of these spaces accommodated our approach perfectly, other buildings posed greater challenges and forced us to adapt and become more flexible with our design approach.
